GRADUATION

General Requirements

To qualify for graduation, students must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Completion of Prescribed Coursework:
    Students must meet the minimum academic requirements as outlined in their respective programs. This includes completing all required courses specified in the curriculum.

  2. Minimum Academic Standards:

  • Undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of at least 2.00 (equivalent to a “C” average).

  • Graduate students must maintain a cGPA of at least 3.00 (equivalent to a “B” average).

 

The final GPA will be calculated based on all grades earned up to the term prior to graduation.

  1. Financial Responsibilities:
    Students must settle all outstanding financial obligations with Hesed University to be eligible for graduation.

  2. Compliance with Catalog Requirements:

  • Students are expected to complete their degree requirements based on the catalog for the year they first enrolled.

  • If a student withdraws and later returns within three consecutive quarters (excluding summer), they may follow the original catalog requirements.

  • Students returning after an extended absence (beyond three consecutive quarters) must comply with the requirements outlined in the current catalog.

Graduation Ceremony Participation

  • Virtual Graduation:
    Since Hesed University offers online programs, the graduation ceremony will primarily be conducted virtually via live broadcast to accommodate all students.

    • Students are encouraged to participate in the online commencement ceremony.

  • In-Person Graduation:
    Once the Elkins Park, PA campus is operational, students may also have the option to attend an in-person ceremony if desired.

    • In-person attendees must confirm their participation at least six weeks before the ceremony.

    • Attendance at both the rehearsal and commencement exercises is required for in-person participation.

  • Students unable to attend the ceremony in any format may graduate in absentia upon approval.

Additional Requirements

  1. Program-Specific Standards:
    Individual programs may have additional academic or professional requirements for graduation beyond the university’s general standards. Students are responsible for meeting these requirements as outlined by their respective programs.

  2. Faculty Decisions:

  • The faculty of each program has the authority to determine eligibility for graduation, continuation in a degree program, and academic standing.

  • If a student disagrees with a faculty decision, they may submit an appeal to the Office of Student Services within 15 days of the decision.

    The university reserves the right to deny graduation or terminate a student’s enrollment for academic deficiencies, conduct violations, or failure to align with Hesed University’s mission and values.

  • The faculty of each program has the authority to determine eligibility for graduation, continuation in a degree program, and academic standing.

  • If a student disagrees with a faculty decision, they may submit an appeal to the Office of Student Services within 15 days of the decision.

Graduation Process

  1. Completion of Required Credits:
    Students must successfully complete a minimum of 164 credits in the bachelor’s degree program to qualify for a graduation audit.

  2. Graduation Audit:
    Each academic division will conduct a graduation audit to ensure the student meets all academic requirements.

  3. Graduation Application Request:
    Once all graduation requirements are fulfilled, students must email the Registrar’s Office to request the graduation application form.

  4. Final Graduation Check:

  • The Registrar’s Office performs a final review to verify the completion of all graduation requirements.

  • If requirements are met, the Registrar’s Office will notify the student and provide the graduation application form.

  1. Submission of Graduation Application:

  • Students complete the graduation application form, submit it, and pay the required graduation fee.

  1. Issuance of Diploma and Transcript:

  • After processing the application, the Registrar’s Office will prepare and mail the diploma and official transcript to the address provided on the graduation application form.
